Our Lil’ Tiger programs promote the ideals of discipline, respect and confidence through activities which are designed to increase aerobic capacity, sharpen motor skills and increase focus. Our Beginner’s Program provides an introduction to the basic techniques of modern Taekwondo, while increasing strength, flexibility, coordination and cardiovascular fitness. Through the belt ranking system, our students are motivated to set short and long-term goals, from earning their color stripes between each belt test, to visioning and achieving the ultimate goal of earning a Black Belt. Our Adult Program provides a well-rounded understanding of modern Taekwondo including basic techniques and self-defense, while increasing your strength, flexibility, coordination and cardiovascular fitness. Whether your goal is to earn your black belt or simply to get into shape, you will find our program fun and challenging, and the benefits of training rewarding! Fitness and Weight Loss: Taekwondo training incorporates extensive stretching and constant aerobic exertion. The results are increased aerobic capacity, strength and awareness of one’s body. Muay Thai or Thai Boxing is a stand-up striking system that has proven to be the most effective standup fighting system amongst UFC and other Mixed Martial Arts competitions. Thai training methods develop devastating power, speed and superb cardiovascular endurance as well as fighting spirit. Muay Thai, also known as the Art of Eight Limbs, utilizes eight points of contact, the fists, elbows, knees, and shins. Muay Thai training is very practical as beginners start off with Thai warm up exercises and stretches, specific conditioning, and beginner level pad work, all of which minimize the risk of injury. Many of the movements in Thai boxing focus on utilizing the core of the body, meaning the abdominal and stabilizer muscles located in the midsection of the body. As a practitioner develops basic understanding of the techniques as well as sound conditioning, he or she will start learning longer combinations and aggressive defenses. Sparring is an integral part of Taekwondo, and we cultivate students’ sparring abilities in this class. Classes consist of guided drills where students are taught important techniques for sparring such as steps, blocking, evasive maneuvers, and effective attack and defense sequences, and freestyle sparring, where students are paired up with several partners and given time to spar under the supervision and guidance of the class instructors. Students are encouraged to both use the techniques taught at the beginning of the class, and improvise to their advantage. By sparring multiple partners during the course of the class, students experience and prepare for competition fighting.
